Some further information on this. A colleague in my department is using the new version without any issues. On the off change there were some differences, I took a copy of their EEGLAB but I'm getting the same problem with the alternate version. I've also just tried it with a later version of MATLAB - 9.3.0.713579 (R2017b) - and it works fine.
